We’re now on Twitter, so if you want to be kept up to date with what’s happening in the world of Canine Parvovirus, as well as site updates, new products and anything else doggie-related (well, OK, cats too), then please join the thousands of people who already follow us.
As a result of the many emails we receive from both customers and others, we have created two new categories on our blog:
(The film buffs among you will no doubt recognize these as movie titles, although the first one is an oldie, from 1920.)
So, why have we created these categories?
Well, we want to draw attention to the sort of things that people do correctly and wrongly when it comes to Parvo.
The Dog-Gone Clever category is meant to highlight what some of our customers have done correctly in their approach to treating Parvo; which a lot of this boils down to common sense and not being afraid to ask for (and take) our advice, which is based on dealing with hundreds of cases.
The Dumb And Dumber category, on the other hand, is to not only show you the sort of ill-informed and sometimes offensive emails we receive (mainly from people who are not our customers), but also draw your attention to what people (and this does include some of our customers) have done that is just wrong.
We do this in the hope that other dog owners will not make the same mistakes, but follow the actions and share the same thought processes and attitudes as those who have done exactly the right thing.
Please note that the annual round of shipping rate increases is now upon us.
Specifically:
- FedEx will be increasing their rates by about 7% as from Monday, 5 January 2009.
- The US Postal Service will be increasing their rates, as from Sunday, 18 January 2009: Priority Mail will increase by 4%, Express Mail by 6% and International services by 9%.
(Although we don’t use them, UPS will also be increasing their rates at the same time as FedEx, and DHL will be ceasing all US domestic services as from Friday, 30 January 2009.)
Note that these are across-the-board increases (i.e. they are not just specific to us) - you will probably find similar shipping increases on other websites that you use.
What does this mean to our customers?
We have regrettably had to change our Returns & Refund Policy because of the ever-increasing virulence of the latest 2c strain of Parvo.
We will no longer be able to accept returned packages back because of the high risk of contamination and the danger this poses to other people and their dogs.

We are pleased to announce that in addition to Visa, MasterCard and Discover, we now accept American Express through our secure server.
This is in direct response to customers who have requested this facility, and although we have always accepted Amex through PayPal, we appreciate that not everybody wishes to use PayPal.
This facility is available when ordering by phone, and when ordering online from either of our websites:
We are pleased to announce that we have been able to put our weekday shipping deadline back from 2:00pm MST (GMT – 7) to 3:00pm MST (GMT – 7), giving you an extra hour on Monday through Friday in which to place your life-saving order and still get same-day shipping.
3:00pm MST is equivalent to the following time in these time zones:
- Pacific Standard Time - 2:00pm (3:00pm during DST)
- Central Standard Time - 4:00pm (5:00pm during DST)
- Eastern Standard Time - 5:00pm (6:00pm during DST)
- Greenwich Mean Time - 10:00pm (11:00pm during BST)
- Hong Kong - 6:00am (the next day)
- Australia Eastern Standard Time - 9:00am (the next day, or 10:00am during summer time)
