Here are some facts about Canine Parvovirus (aka CPV, Parvo virus, or more commonly known as Parvo) that you might not know about:
-
Problem is, once your dog has been infected, there’s about 3-15 days when you will see no symptoms, but the virus is consuming large amounts of bone marrow, then moving on to consume and destroy a huge number of cells in the intestines - a lot of damage occurs at this stage.
-
When your doggie becomes infected and shows any of these symptoms (yellow frothy vomit, diarrhea [with or without blood], lethargy/no energy, wobbly, no appetite, dehydration, very depressed, etc.) then he may only have a few hours to 4 or 5 days left if he is not treated straight away.
-
Dogs can easily become infected by any number of ways, e.g. touching infected bodily fluids (urine, saliva, vomit, etc.), touching waste products (feces), nose-to-nose contact, from your clothes, shoes, car tires, birds, insects, or other critters.
-
Parvo can live in the ground from a few months to as long as twenty (20) years.
-
Parvo is extremely hardy: it can survive boiling water (212 degrees F or 100 degrees C) and freezing temperatures (32 degrees F or 0 degrees C).
-
If your dog does indeed have Parvo and you take him to the vet, be prepared for a bill of anywhere from $500 to over $6,000 USD per dog, and your vet will probably only give the dog a 50:50 chance at survival.
-
Currently, the Parvo Hot Spot areas are mainly south of I-70 (Utah, going all across the US southern as far as Maryland).
-
Some of the hardest hit areas include Texas, California, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Alabama and Tennessee, but almost every US state and other nations outside of the USA are starting to experience Parvo outbreaks too.
Is there a Home Parvo Treatment or a natural Parvo Remedy you can use?

this page has been so helpfull. I just wished i knew this a few months ago. And i probably would still have my Tonka here with me. He was a 5 1/2 months old Spanish Mastiff. He was a male and so lovable.. I lost him 2 days ago and it was even more terrible because of all the blood that he expelled. I was in so much pain during those 2 days before he died. I feel terrible about the way he died, and i never in my life would of imagined that i would feel so much 4 a pet. As i was reading i found out that this terrible virus can be at the ground for up to 20 years that is horrible. Also it makes me think that maybe that is just the way that he got it. He began making holes on the ground but as it bothers me, because of the mess; i told myself that making holes is normal for dogs. after that wich he’s never done before, he got sick. and 2 days later he died. He never left my home just on my minivan. so he didn’t catch it for other dogs.. i don’t know.. can you please include my area in your informations i live at Guayama, Puerto Rico 00784.
