Lisa,

That's a good question, and one we actually asked of the manufacturer, Amber Technology, last year when we were building our Product Calculator (which tells our customers exactly how many bottles of Parvaid, and the accompanying products, they would need, based on the dogs that they have).

Surprisingly, even though Amber Technology had been selling Parvaid since 1997, they didn't actually know how many drops were in a 1oz. bottle, but hazarded a guess at somewhere between 600 and 700.

That didn't sound right to us, and our Product Calculator needed an exact figure, so we did what they should have done years ago and counted them out - one by one.

That boring job took us a while, but it gave us the answer we needed: 1,080 drops. (We gave Amber Technology this informaiton, and that's what they've been using ever since.)

We did some additional number crunching, as Amber Technology claimed that one bottle would be enough to treat three medium-sized dogs. Our results led us to believe that they were really talking about medium-sized puppies, because according to our calculations, a 1oz. bottle of Parvaid would only be enough to treat one dog that weighs between 21 and 100lbs.

We hope this answers your question.

UPDATE (7 September 2011)

We checked Amber Technology's website recently and found that they have changed their dosage instructions. Instead of requiring 63 doses to treat Parvo, which is what it used to say, it now seems as though you need to administer 79 doses (or maybe even more - the information is very confusing).

What this means is that, using their new dosage instructions, a single 1oz. bottle of Parvaid will now only treat one dog that weighs 20lbs. or less.

Needless to say, neither Amber Technology nor any of their major re-sellers and distributors make this clear to potential customers, so you may end up buying a bottle only to find that it's not enough to complete a course of treatment.

BTW, our own ParvoBuster Parvo Treatment Kits will treat any size of dog with a single kit - even if your dog weighs up to 300llbs (and you'll get clear, unambiguous, accurate instructions, and much more in our comprehensive Parvo Treatment Guide)!
